Customized baseball gloves are becoming the norm as opposed to an occasional player showing up with one of these cool new deals. Every position offers custom colors, designs and embroidery in order to promote self expression. Will you play better? many coaches and parents will grapple with the decision to purchase high end gloves, but know the player isn’t ready for such an expensive and showy trophy. Is the decision any less difficult when the player is seasoned as opposed to just starting out?

There was a time when the Oakland A’s wore white, yellow and eventually green shoes, for this very same reason. The only difference is that they did it for a reason. Team work. The team decided, together with their owner, Charlie Finley, to cause an uproar among the baseball stuffed shirts. And they did.

Today’s players are showing up with all sorts of strange gear with the single intention of expressing themselves. I’ve seen a lot of baseball and coached a lot of players and in my opinion, it takes a lot of player to match some of the flashy baseball mitts we are seeing today. The problem is there are not that many players who can live up to the hype dangling from their wrist. Can you live up to the glove you buy?

Some options for custom gloves include color. You might think design would be paramount, but it is only a fraction of what is available to those with enough money to buy into the new baseball personality. Colors from red, to royal blue. You get a choice of web colors too. Not just the back and palm colors, but laces too. Choose from a shocking purple to the more mundane black. Lace colors go to orange and red if you are so inclined.

Please do not forget to personalize your baseball glove even further with your name embroidered on it. Choose the color of your stitching so as not to lose of forget your glove.

There are some design details available from length of the glove to web design. Pitchers and infielders will want a shorter glove, built for speed and a quick retrieval of the ball for throwing around the infield. Outfielders will want to opt for a deeper pocket and a longer glove, in many cases a full inch longer. Most infielders, except for the third baseman will want an open web design and outfielders, needing help with the sun and fielding high fly balls often caught in the lights, will want an open mesh web to help with visibility.
